So I haven’t been posting lately. Moving house has kept me busy. Or at least that’s one plausible excuse. Still no internet at my new residence, thanks to the burocrats at KPN.

I guess my frustration with KPN and XS4ALL’s helpdesk kinda contributed to the following correspondence with Maxtor’s support dept.:

Dear witless anonymous support-droid,

You already seem have all the information you requested, in fact, you have expertly quoted all that information below.

The magical numbers that appear behind the word “Phone” do indeed represent my phone number, and I’m sure you can guess what the words and numbers following the term “Address” mean.

As for my email address, may I suggest that in order to contact me you use the same homing pigeon that was clever enough to figure out what the word with the ‘@’-sign in it meant, and saved himself the trip from Ireland to Amsterdam by going to the nearest internet-cafe to send out the email I’m replying to now.

Now could you please be so kind as to answer my question or forward it to someone who might?

Kind regards,

Rick *********

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your enquiry. There was some information missing that
stopped us creating an RMA number for you – if you were able to get back to
us with the full information as detailed below, we would be able to set up
this replacement for you.

To summarise, we still need:

- Your complete address details (no PO boxes)
- phone number
- fax number / email address (if applicable)

Under the following link you can find full details of our replacement
procedure for further reference:
http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/service/warranty_ata.htm

In order to allow us to deal with all enquiries as efficiently and
accurately as possible we would ask that you include any previous emails
when replying to us.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Customer Support Team, Maxtor Ireland Ltd.
